:::::::::::::::::::: ABOUT THE ARTISTS ::::::::::::::::::::

Mungo’s Hi Fi is a sound system based in Glasgow, Scotland which follows the original Jamaican sound system tradition. After working together as the Dub Dentists, Tom Tattersall and Doug Paine founded the group in 2000, writing, recording, producing and performing their own brand of reggae and dub music, working in collaboration with other artists and producers. They were joined in 2002 by Craig Macleod, in 2006 by Jerome Joly and in 2012 by James Whelan. Bringing up-to-date reggae, dub and dancehall sounds to Glasgow across the city in venues such as the Glasgow School of Art. The sound system quickly became part of a wider reggae network with a hectic schedule of live performance, both djing and as a sound system at clubs and events across the UK and Europe. Numerous festival appearances have seen Mungo’s brought to Glastonbury, Womad, Outlook and various other festivals where they have hosted stages and tents, performing and bringing some high-profile artists to the UK.

Soom T is the Glaswegian cultster known for eclectic vocal collaborations on over 50 record releases since 1999 with the likes of The Orb, T.Raumschmiere, King Creosote, Miss Kittin, Mungos Hifi, Bus, Asian Dub Foundation, DJ Yoda and many other definitive artists. Having spent the last 15 years releasing and recording, Soom T’s character has become renowned within the industry as a comedic if somewhat eccentric one with exceptional virtuosic ability, inimitable distinctive sound & strong spiritual viewpoint permeating her powerful poetry, gradually gaining the Indian-Scot a burgeoning cult following with fans eager to commute from various countries to witness her rare public appearances.
Having been influenced Hindi Ghazals from the 50’s, Punjabi Bhangra, the hiphop of the 80′s and electro, rave and punk of the early 90′s her influences range from Rage Against the machine, Pink Floyd and Queen to Christie Moore, Tasmin Archer and Commodore 64 game soundtracks.
From 2003 Soom T has been deployed to vocalize and deputise for many class acts touring European festivals such as Roskilde and Sonar whilst winning awards including BBC Fame Academy Bursary Award (2005), PRS Fopp Award (2005), PRS Atom Award (2006), SAC Funded in 2008/10 whilst a vast catalog appears on radio playlists worldwide. Her current projects include recordings with Scottish Reggae champions, Mungos Hifi & label alliance Scotch Bonnett with whom Soom T currently works on a Reggae album. Her inclusion as a member of Scottish Supergroup ‘Burns Unit’ saw her appear on Jools Holland with war song ‘Send Them Kids To War in 2011.’
On recording with Maffi in 2008 on the 7” Flying High and 12” Dirty Money produced by Johan Daniellson & remixed by disrupt, Soom T discovered a production vibe suited to her progressive vocal output and did further releases within the genre before moving on. The 2011 follow up album ‘Ode To A Carrot’ – recorded over older existing tracks and remakes by disrupt of old reggae classics – saw Soom T supporting the legalisation of cannabis with melodic comedic banter summing up the renegade mind.

In 2011 Soom T tried her hand as a composer for a theatre musical. Her stage musical works can be witnessed at Theatres in England, Scotland and Australia with the productions presented onstage for a life affirming musical based on a true activist story ‘The Glasgow Girls’ produced by award winning producer ‘Cora Bissett.’ The title song was released as a single 7” in October 2012 on Soom T’s Folk Label ‘Folk U records.’
With several riotous crowd churning sets having left a firm imprint on Worldwide audiences, with tours from 2010 including Scandinavia, Japan, China, USA, Canada, Mexico, India, Brasil, Mexico, USA, Canada, Europe, Balkans and other international locations, the spread of the Soom T phenomenon shows no signs of letting up with incessant tours of Europe and upcoming tour of Argentina, India and Brasil in 2012. Her experience has culminated in her setting up the label Renegade Masters dedicated to remaining fiercely independent and seeking, nurturing and releasing artists internationally who create powerful positive music with a strong emotive response in listeners. Her solo live sets consist of laptop medleys, tracks from her vast catalog, fx gadgetry, dubplates and a microphone supported by label spinner ‘The Renegade Enforcer.’

Currently planning a complete activist hiphop album to be released on ‘Renegade Masters’ in 2012, the anticipated LP produced by Australian production wizard ‘Monkey Marc’ is expected to cause ripples that reach the next planetary alignment With several singles and EP’s due for Renegade release with a myriad of producers, the mission continues.
